Practice SAT
The practice SAT on Saturday was a success. 73 teens showed to take the test. I will not have a chance to have another test this semester, but hope to have one just before school starts next year. Let me know if you think it is a beneficial program. Would you come to one? What do I need to change about it?

Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Eragon is a fifteen year old boy who lives with his uncle and cousin. His mother dissappeared when he was born and he never knew his father. He finds a blue stone that hatches a dragon that he names Saphira. After an attack on his town by the Ra'zoc, he heads out on a journey with Saphira and an old man named Brom. Eragon finds out that he is the last Dragon Rider, a group whose mission to defend the area from evil. Brom teaches him to fight and to use the powers that Eragon possesses. He can read minds of others and heal the surface of any wound. Some of this he does with Saphira's help. After a few mini battles and attacks, Eragon becomes friends with a wandering fighter named Murtaugh. He helps Eragon escape from prison and rescue an elf. They hide out with the elves in a fortress made by the dwarfs and have to fight the Urgalls and warriors of Galabatorix, the evil king.
This is the first in a triology. It is a great fantasy book. There are many names and places to remember so it might not be for the casual reader. Once you get into the story, you want to see how it all plays out. You will want to pick up the second one right away. The second book, Eldest, has been published and is at the library also. Go see the movie Eragon, which comes out in December, to see what changes and what stays the same.
Have you read this book? Let me know what you think.
