Changes happening at the library

Many of you may have noticed that there have been a few changes at the library in the past few weeks. I wanted to let you know what is going on in the library system.

First, there are new changes to the Internet policy. You must have a library card to get on the internet. Your parent can sign you up for a card if you are present. They do not need the birth certificate if you are present. This pertains to ALL teens, anyone under 18. If you are 14 and up, you cannot register for a library card by yourself, a parent must sign you up. You still will be able to use the adult computers.

Second, we are going to a new catalog system. We have joined with libraries throughout the state to start SCLENDS. All the information is being tranferred now, so there are a few changes in checking out items. No DVDs will be checked out until December 4. You can only check out 5 items until December 4. We will go live with the new system then and you will be able to check out things like normal.

There is an exciting feature with the new system. Since we are partnering with other counties throughout the state, there is a greater chance of receiving a book. If our library doesn't have the book, we can get it from any of the other counties in the SCLENDS group. This will hopefully help with popular items.

End of Summer Reading

Hi guys. Sorry I have been bad at blogging lately. We finished Summer Reading on July 16 with a pizza party. We played Mario Kart and had a great time. Pics from all the programs will be put up soon. We are taking the month of August off to get ready for Fall programing. There will be programs for teens every Thursday starting around 5:00pm. We will be doing crafts, watching movies, watching anime, and having book discussions. If you have any requests for programs, please let me know. I can't wait to see some of you at our Fall programs. Remember they are FREE and open to all 6th through 12th graders.

Weeks 3 & 4 of Summer Reading

We have been having a blast this year during summer reading. We watched New in Town and learned the Hannah Montana Hoedown Throwdown from Kelley's Fine Arts. We had a large group for Madea Goes to Jail and even learned how to make balloon animals.

This week we will be watching Inkheart on Tuesday at 2:00 and Twilight on Thursday at 3:30. The teens chose the movie.

We will be watching Confessions of a Shopaholic and Push and also making art out of recyclable materials in the next coupld of weeks. Come join us for these FREE fun programs.

Week 2 of Summer Reading

Summer Reading started this week. It was great. We laughed like crazy at Paul Blart: Mall Cop and learned to play instruments Carnivale style. Next week promises to be just at much fun.

On Tuesday, at 2:00pm, we will watch New in Town. It is a romantic comedy about a strict New York professional who moves to a small Minnesota town to help run on of the plants. She soon finds out that the town helps fix her.

On Thursday, at 3:30pm, we will have a dance program with Kelley's Fine Arts. They will show us different styles of dances and teach us some of the styles.

Come join us for great FREE programs for rising 6th through 12th graders.
