Teen Read Week

October 17-23 is Teen Read Week. Teens get their own week to promote reading and using the library. This year's theme is Books with Beat @ your library. To celebrate, some teens made earbud holders and wrote Ipod poetry. They took the first lines of songs from an Ipod an wrote poetry. Here are some of the poems that were written:

Do you remember
when the snow falled
On the 1st of December
The church bells called

I walked cold and alone
Glaring at the sky
The patter on the stone
Remember that lie

My hear beat stronger
My mind echoes
My strides getting longer
Stop! Just go. . .
---Christine, 12

On your mark, ready, set, let's go
We're starting it over
I've been running longer
Oh, my life is getting stronger

Guess who just got back today
Seems like just yesterday
Think of a wonderful thought
When the going starts to get rough

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
Each day through my window
It's a world of wonder
I'm lost in thoughts I ponder
---Ameila, 12

Take me as I am
I made it through the wilderness,
You and me, we come from different worlds,
Try to remember
Everyone's watching
It's been a mystery
We are young

Look at this stuff
It's a sign of the times
Never want to fly
Oh, my life is getting stronger
As I walk alone
---Kaysona, 12

Starting it over
Take me as I am
As I walk alone
Everyone's watching me.
Guess who just got back today
I run from you
Been running so long
We're walking away; I don't know what to say
You and me, we come from different worlds
Do you remember?
Why are there so many songs about rainbows?
Oh, my life is getting stronger
Try to remember
We are young
---Nastassha, 13
