Twilight

I saw the movie on Friday night. I thought it was great. It did not follow the book exactly, but the extra scene helped the movie. It helped those who had not read the books understand stuff that might not have been explained. I thought that the casting went well and can not wait for New Moon. What did you think?

Book discussion group ideas

We are trying to start a book discussion group for teens here at the library. One idea I had was to read some books that are series just before the next installment comes out. Examples: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer arrives in August. We could read Twilight in May, New Moon in June, and Eclipse in July. Also Brisingr by Christopher Paolini comes out in September. We could read Eragon in July and Eldest in August. What do you think?

Another New Book

A series that has gotten a lot of attention lately is the vampire series by Stephenie Meyer. The books published so far are Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. The final book of the series Breaking Dawn will be released on August 2. A companion book, Midnight Sun, is Twilight told from the guy's perspective. The movie of Twilight will come out in December. I highly suggest you reading the series.

Vampire/Gothic series

If you like gothic/vampire series, especially those with romance, here are two series that you should look for.

Stephenie Meyer has written Twilight and New Moon. Both take place in Forks, Washington. A girl moves to live with her father. She becomes interested in a guy at school who seems to have something different about him. She finds out that he and his family are not the normal family. It is a good series, with the third book Eclipse, coming out next week.

Another series is the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz. There are two titles right now, Blue Bloods and Masquerade. This story is set in New York and at a private school in the city. The students at the school find out something interesting about their families and ancestors. A true historical mystery plays a part in the storyline also.

We have each of these books at the library and will have the others once they are published. Come by and check out these great series.
